*** VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED *** Salvaged from an old Betamax video tape in RayJago 's collection, this sequence includes material showing REGENT's final hours. If you have great memories of time served in RFA REGENT (and I know this 'R'-boat was a favourite of many), then suggested that you give this one a miss (or at least have a box of tissues on stand-by). Thanks to: * Ray for loaning the tape to RFANostalgia for conversion (embedded video from SKY-TV 1993), * "threelegsoman" for accompanying song, * contributors of pictures to the RFANostalgia galleries, * Charles Leatherbarrow for the final discharge book image from 1993. If you have any REGENT pics or stories that you are willing to share, please make contact and maybe we can put together a more jolly sequence and a...

Now any hope is lost...the scrapping process has already started..the sun shines into the cardeck... R.I.P. unique G.T.S. FINNJET!!! That's a really sad end for such a wonderful ferry! In june 2008 the famous GTS Finnjet reached the Alang srapyard for demolition. start of scrapping was announced for the 4th. of july. there is still little hope to save her! she is still untouched! on 21th august a inspection team left finland for visit in alang to get knowlegde about finnjet's condition and refloating possibilities. you see, something's going on! FINNJET is still the fastest ferry worldwide (33,5 knots) and the only one powered by gas turbines. Don't let this unique ship die! ********************************************
A very sad sight, and the end of an era, in more ways than one, The 'Emerald', formerly the Santa Rosa of Grace Line. The last of the steam driven ocean liners, built during the swan-song period of traditional shipbuilding, and the end of an era for us of ocean liner salvage. Those warehouse-busting quantities of mid-century treasures are all gone now. Believe me, you could fit what you'd want to salvage from a recently built passenger ship, in the boot of your car. The Emerald was a let down, re-fitted to death in the 70's and 80's, not worth the 2 near-death experiences getting to and fro the Ship during monsoon tides, but when you've gone 3000 miles you got to go the last 1. Sailed back to shore glad I had bought so much of the Augustus, the 1000pcs of furniture onboard Her doesn't seem...

From what is generally acknowledged to be the first build of fully cellular container ships over 1000 teu, the first of the class to go to scrap at Alang breakers in India. 4 of the 5 sister ships had been re-engined to more economical diesel engines but the Flinders remained as steam turbine to the end. The 6th ship of the class, the Jervis Bay had been previously lost during a storm on Bilboa breakwater whilst undertow to the breakers. Launched July 1968 Hamburg Beached October 1996 Alang Built for the Europe to Australia and later also New Zealand trades, the ship spent all her life back and forth on these runs. Apologies for the quality - a colleagues 1990's video camera.

Bolivia, a landlocked South American country, holds the promise of discovery for adventurous souls. While pretty Sucre, “La Ciudad Blanca,” is Bolivia’s judicial capital, La Paz is its political capital and also its main tourist hub. On the Mirador at Laikacota, you get a feel for how incredibly high up in the Andes this city sits. Deep in the valley below lies the central Plaza Murillo, home to the most precious buildings: the Presidential Palace, National Congress and Metropolitan Cathedral. Most visitors stay near the Plaza San Francisco, because of its proximity to hidden gems, such as the curious Witches’ Market, the Musical Instrument Museum and the Coca Museum. Around La Paz, you can ride down “El Camino de la Muerte," hike through the lunar landscape of Valle de la Luna and great...

This Spanish colonial city in the northern desert of Peru is a vibrant place, with colorful architecture and proud Latino traditions. The surrounding desert coast is dotted with the ancient ruins of lost civilizations. Some 2,000 years ago, long before the first Incas arrived, the Moche people and later the Chimú, managed to cultivate the arid Moche Valley and build thriving cities such as Chan Chan, made entirely from adobe bricks. These pre-Columbian civilizations also created the mighty Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Moon, wove reed boats for fishing, dug canals for irrigation and designed refined jewelry and pottery. From the http://www.VideoSource.com Global Village Travel Guide New HD program and Bali stock footage: http://www.HDenvironments.com Transcript: The material aspects of Balinese life are simple. The tropics require little in the way of clothing and shelter, and the land is generous in providing food and raw materials. These people have maintained a simplicity in full-filling their needs, and this has given them leisure time to develop a rich lifestyle. Although clothing worn for festival occasions is stunning and expensive, everyday clothing is plain and practical. This relationship is true also of thier diet. Festive occasions see the men joining in on the kitchen duties when gourmet feasts are prepared. Ordinary meals, however are simple to the point of being boring....

Wide open mind is clear
A distant voice emerges
from the deep luxuriant forest
The almighty force of ancients pervades my soul
Wide open Fate is clear
They are calling me - resistance is futile
The chains of blood are teased
the time of salvation has come
An enormous green and dark flame
burns the insane fears
There is a surrounding magic around here
The skin loses its epidermic fear
Short flashback of the past infamous life
abhorred reduced to ashes
"The future is awaiting for my coming
long paths in several wrong places
For the transgressor of the cosmic order law
False Messiahs (bringer) of corrupted values
will triumph In the mind of the empty mass
But the eternal salvation is far beyond
where no pathway goes
A fusion in deep spiritual walk between
the cosmic essence And Nature through blood"
The Ancestral spirit evoked emerges
from the frozen tomb of mankind
The broken continuity became a loud memory
I crushed the wall of time
I crushed the dominion of illusions
the past is alive
"The almighty force of ancients pervades my soul
I am the wolf - the obscure abyss and cave
